Novenas

A novena, derived from the Latin word “novem” (nine,) refers to nine days of prayer asking God for a specific intention. Often, a novena is prayed through a Saint’s intercession and is tied to specific feast days set by the liturgical calendar.

The nine days of prayer is modeled after the nine days of prayer that Jesus instructed the Apostles and Mary to pray while they awaited for the Holy Spirit to descend up them at Pentecost.

Novena’s are a great spiritual exercise to help strengthen devotions to the Saints and Our Lord.
